Young Entrepreneurs Academy Investor Panel Event
On April 20, 2016, Courtney Seda McDonnell served as an investor panel judge for the third consecutive year for the Young Entrepreneurs Academy Investor Panel Event. The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a year-long program that teaches students in grades 6-12 how to start and run their own businesses. Students brainstorm business ideas, decide if they want to work for themselves or as a team, write a business plan, pitch their plan to investors for funding, and actually launch their own business or social movement. On Wednesday evening, 16 students presented their business plans to the investor panel and requested start up funds. All 16 students/CEOs were winners and received money for their new businesses. Congratulations to Alissa Liu and Stela Tong of Travel Toes for being selected by the panel as the Saunders Regional Semi-finalist. These young ladies will be heading to Rochester, N.Y. in early May to compete at the next level.
